Architectural Manchester

Some shots from an early morning trip with a brief of ‘abstract architectural Manchester’. Earlier on the light was quite flat but by about 8.30 the clouds had cleared and the sunshine was bringing some really strong contrasts making life a bit more enjoyable. These are some of the results.

While I’m on the subject of nice animation, this is another that I was reminded of whilst watching Thursday below. It’s a Flash animated masterpiece by Ilias Sounas from a few years ago but still looks phenomenal. I lost so much time watching this when I first discovered it. Stunning.

This is the first time I’ve posted something that isn’t my own work but I couldn’t help falling in love with this amazing piece of animation by Matthias Hoegg.

It’s a fairly simple story set in a geometrical metropolis with some deft transitions and wonderful observations. Great stuff.

New Hollyoaks set ‘Look Sharpe’ and a redesign for the ‘Dog In The Pond’ made some interesting work at the end of last year.

Some other new projects have been popping up recently as well. I’m just in the middle of building a portfolio website for a Manchester based make-up artist and I’ve also been doing some branding for an Liverpool investment company. More on them soon

Combat Kids Title Sequence, November 2010

I’ve been so keen to get this online as it’s a piece of work I’m extremely proud of. It’s the animated title sequence from the Children’s BBC show Combat Kids which aired on Monday 22nd November 2010. It was about 6 weeks work altogether. This included concept & storyboarding, branding, artwork and animation. The artwork was created initially in Illustrator, processed in Photoshop and finally animated in After Effects. The project continued into marketing with the design & creation of the accompanying press pack, which I’ll post separately later. It was a hugely enjoyable project to work on and was made even more so by producer/director Paul Wilmshurst, who was supportive and encouraging throughout. It’s particularly satisfying to work on a project from beginning to end and produce something that is so successful across all media.

Kudos Vehicle Management

I’m just coming to the end of a very enjoyable job with Kudos Vehicle Management, a national car leasing firm based in Halifax. I’ve spent the last couple of months redesigning firstly, their logo and secondly, their website. As clients go, they’ve been up they’re with the best of them. Strong feedback, good communication and the ability to embrace ideas have all contributed to a great final product which I’m really proud of. It’s also been nice to just concentrate on design and hand the complicated coding stuff to Dave at QA Computing.

The website is still being constructed – I’ll post a link once it’s in full flight – in the meantime here’s a bunch of visuals that have been consuming a fair bit of time lately…

…and by the way, don’t pay any attention to the prices quoted in the visuals as they aren’t in anyway accurate, they are for visualisation purposes only!

The Powder Room – Web-site redesign

Just about at the end of the design and construction of the The Powder Room’s new website.

The Powder Room is a make up and beauty salon based in Greenbank Road, Mossley Hill Liverpool. I’ve got a couple of notes to complete here and there but should be completely sorted by the weekend.

Busy, busy, busy…

The last few months have been a bit busy, hence a serious lack of posts.

I’ve been lucky enough to work on some great projects and they’re all coming to a conclusion very shortly.

The first of these is a website I’ve redesigned and built for The Powder Room, a make up and beauty salon in Liverpool. Feel free to have a look here… http://www.powderroom.org.uk/

I’ve also been working with Kudos Vehicle Management, a national car leasing firm, redesigning their website. It’s not live yet but I’ll post some of the artwork here shortly and provide a link once it’s up and running.

Most importantly is a job I’ve been doing for the past 6 weeks which is an animated title sequence for a children’s show which is looking amazing. More on that soon though!
